We provide treatment for a wide range of eye conditions, including cataract surgery with premium intraocular lens implants, YAG laser capsulotomy for posterior capsular opacification (PCO). We also offer treatment for disorders of the eyelid including ptosis, ectropion, entropion correction and eyelid lesions treatments. We also offer cosmetic procedures such as blepharoplasty (eyelid reduction). We also consult patients with general ophthalmic eye conditions.
During your consultation, you’ll have a full assessment of your eye health and options. We’ll discuss whether surgery—or a non-surgical alternative—is the best way forward, ensuring you have the information needed to make a confident decision.
- Please bring you latest (current) distance and near spectacles
- Please bring any referral letter from your optician and your latest spectacle prescription, if available
- Please refrain from wearing your soft contact lenses for at least one week and hard contact lenses for two weeks prior to your consultation to ensure accurate lens implant power calculations are carried out on the same day. This is to avoid subsequent delays pending contact lens wear omission.
- Please do not drive to your appointment on the day, because your pupil will be dilated during the consultation and this can blur your vision.
Recovery varies depending on the type of surgery. Minor procedures like chalazion removal or YAG laser capsulotomy require little downtime, while surgeries such as blepharoplasty or ptosis correction may take a couple of weeks for swelling to settle. You’ll receive detailed aftercare guidance for your specific treatment.
Yes. All consultations and procedures are carried out by Mr Hooman Sherafat, a consultant ophthalmologist with over 20 years of experience in both surgical and non-surgical eye care.
Medical eye surgery is carried out to treat a condition that affects your vision or eye health. Examples include cataract surgery, glaucoma procedures, or surgery for retinal problems. These operations are considered necessary to protect or improve your eyesight and are often recommended by your eye specialist.
Cosmetic eye surgery, on the other hand, is performed to enhance the appearance of the eyes rather than to correct a medical problem. For example, eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) to reduce drooping lids or remove under-eye bags is usually cosmetic unless the drooping skin is obstructing vision.
In short, medical eye surgery focuses on preserving or restoring sight, while cosmetic eye surgery is aimed at appearance and aesthetics.
Yes. Our approach is always to achieve results that look natural and in keeping with your features. The aim is to restore function and comfort, while also giving you a refreshed and balanced appearance.
The London Eye Clinic is a private clinic. However, Mr Sherafat also works within the NHS, meaning his patients benefit from the same high standards of expertise, care, and ethical practice across both settings.
